BBQ a hit for hungry swimmers!

Our BBQ has been a great hit in the last few meets with healthy snacks and sausages and hamburgers feeding the hungry hordes. We will be having it every meet from 6.45pm on and again there will be free beer, wine and champagne for adults. All welcome.

Race nights

We continue our Winter program of short course race nights for kids of all ability levels aged from 6 to 18 years. The races are held every second Friday night (outside school holidays) from 6.30pm sharp and finishing some time prior to 8.00pm.

The races have become even more streamlined and our marshals are looking great in their new polo shirts. Improvements are continuing to be introduced with every meet with new race marshalling systems.

We now also have a computerised race results system which gives us the results straight after the meet concludes. The results are published on our website and can be viewed at Results.

The Race nights are still non competitive with each swimmer “racing the clock” to achieve their personal best and win a prize. The swimmer with the most personal bests on the night will be awarded a trophy and proclaimed “swimmer of the meet”.

We also have a new “swimmer of the month” category as well. The winner will be given a $30 gift voucher for club gear.

Great fun racing experience in all strokes over 25, 50, 100 and 200 metres as age appropriate.

Up coming Friday race nights at 6:30pm are 10 June and 24 June. See the club noticeboard at the bottom of the stairs for the full race night schedule.

Our 50 metre long course events start in October. Also look out for the Club Championships coming up on 4 September and 27 November.

Word from the Head Coach

Head Coach at Cook and Phillip Park Stephen Garner gives some racing tips;

“Always bring 2 sets of goggles, a good sized drink bottle, and good healthy food. Never breathe on the first stroke off any wall in freestyle and fly. Always finish freestyle races by not breathing in the last 5 metres and always finish on a full stroke in fly and backstroke.”

New membership benefits delivered

Many member swimmers have already received their great new club t-shirts. Look out for more coming up with our clubs new swimsuit, swim caps, jacket, baseball cap, polo shirts and bag. You can place orders at the meets. Our swimmers of the meet and month, club captains and club championship winners will soon have their achievements “colour” embroidered on their jackets.

Congratulations to our first Swimmer Of The Month James (Messo) Messenger, Well Done!!! James has been representing the club and smashing his PB's all over the State. He wins a $30 gift voucher.
