SWIMCLUB UPDATE

Last Race Night for the year on tonight at 6.30pm

Why not bring a friend?

Try and make sure you get to the centre by 6.15pm to warm up and register by 6.25pm. As always, the BBQ usually gets going by 6.45pm for hungry swimmers and their family.

Take note

Note that the meet on Friday, November 25 will be the last for (calendar) 2005, with club racing resuming on Friday 3rd of February 2006.

Also note that the NSW Metropolitan Championships have been deferred from the traditional December date to early March next year due to the Commonwealth Games.

Lane Cove SC Invitational Meet

Last month our swimmers did us proud at the Lane Cove Spring Invitational Meet. With a lot of support from their team mates and parents, they achieved 20 PB's and won 9 medals which was a fantastic result.

Swimmer of the Month - October 05

October saw some great racing, with the swimmers adapting quickly to the long course format.

A total of 15 PB's were set in the October 15 meet, and our swimmers really lifted in our Scots College invitational meet, where our swimmers set an incredible 47 PB's. Admittedly a number of our younger swimmers were competing in long course format for the first time, but it was still a superb effort.

With all these great performances, achieving Swimmer of the Month was going to be something to be very proud of. Luke Aldous nearly achieved it, gaining a total of 21 race points. Tom Mahony came even closer with 23 race points. However they couldn't catch Poppy Aldous who came home with 25 race points and thus got the award !

Well done Poppy - a terrific achievement !

Congratulations to Poppy Aldous!

Sans Souci Open Summer Meet

This Saturday (i.e. tomorrow) afternoon a race squad from the Cook Phillip Swim Club will be representing the club at Sans Souci. The meet starts at 12.30 (warm up at 12.00noon) and Samantha Marshall, Oliver Schaffer, Emma Radford, Mia Portelli, Sammy Annear, Tom Mahoney, Poppy and Luke Aldous will be representing our club. Good luck to all of them, and if they perform as well as they did at Lane Cove last month, they will do us proud !

MLC Marlins Invitational Meet (12 and under)

On Saturday, 10th December at 3.00pm MLC Marlins is hosting a race meet for swimmers aged 12 years and under. Our swim club is sending a team, and this is a great opportunity to get extra confidence and hone those racing skills. Please speak to Steve Garner or email Nish if you would like to be considered for inclusion in the squad. Representing our club at these external meets is organised by our head coach, Steve Garner, who will assess each swimmers fitness, skills level and attitude at training before including anyone in the club race team.

Fees due

Membership fees for 2005/06 are now overdue and swimmers need to join or renew to swim at the next meet on Friday, 25 November. There are very serious insurance issues if a swimmer races in our club without being financial. Accordingly we have to insist that each swimmer is paid up before being allowed to compete. Go to the website at www.cpswimclub.info to download the application form from the fees page. Failing that see Nish - the man behind the desk at race nights.

Club BBQ

The barbeque will again be operating on Friday nights from 6.45pm, with the complimentary champagne, beer and wine again available to all parents and support crew. Remember that brothers and sisters of the swimmers have free entry so they can enjoy all the facilities of the centre, and have a delicious dinner, while the Race Squad battle out the point score placings!

Gym Membership

A reminder that the centre has a very modern, fully equipped gym, and they have agreed that exclusively for our club there is now a 25% discount on ANY gym membership for Swim Club members' immediate family.

Computerised results

We have a computerised race system which gives us all of the results straight after the meet concludes. These and other results are published on our website and can be viewed at Results.
