SWIMCLUB UPDATE

The September monthly Club Championship is on this Friday, September 15 at 6.30pm!

WHO WILL BE SWIMMER OF THE YEAR ?

Our next club race night, and the last of our short course Monthly Championships in the winter series, is on this Friday, September 15. This is the last race of the 2005 / 2006 season, and is thus the last meet to count towards the Club's "Swimmer of the Year" award. Results from the meet last month will be counted towards the final point score but to keep everyone guessing, and swimming their fastest, all results will be kept quiet until after the big race night this Friday.

There are at least 3 boys and at least 3 girls who are very much in the running to gain this award, which is awarded to one boy and one girl. This is going to be a very close and exciting finale ! Please try and be there by 6.00pm so that we can get all the entries put into the computer in time for a 6.30 start - it will also give some time for the swimmers to do a bit of a warm up.

The club had some outstanding results achieved by both our senior and junior squads at separate days of the Eastern Suburbs Swimming Association District meet last month - full results in the next newsletter.

Our head coach, Steve Garner, is organising the racing calendar for the very busy racing season leading up to Christmas. The key events will be the carnivals run by the district association we belong to, Eastern Suburbs Swimming Association, or ESSA. They will be running 3 carnivals over a series of Saturday afternoons - they will only take a couple of hours and our club is looking to send a strong squad, including all our leading senior swimmers. The carnivals all start at 2.00pm on Saturday October 21 and 28 and November 11. They will be fantastic fun and great for everyone's racing, so put the dates in your diary !

Swimmer of the Year

The competition for Swimmer of the Year is based on each swimmers performances throughout the year at club race nights, with a PB counting for 4 points, a near PB for 3, being within 1 second is worth 2 points and for each race entered 1 point is earned. Well done to all the swimmers last week - there were some terrific performances and it is getting very crowded at the top of the table !
