UPDATE |
| The August Monthly Club Championship is on tomorrow, Friday 18 August at 6.30 pm ! Our next club race night, and the second last of our Monthly Championships in the winter series, is on tomorrow with the last of the winter (short course) on September 15th. These two race meets are the only ones left to establish who the "Swimmer of the Year" will be, and as the table (below) shows, it is going to be a very close and exciting finale ! Please try and be there tomorrow by 6.00pm so that we can get all the entries put into the computer in time for a 6.30 start - it will also give some time for the swimmers to do a bit of a warm up. The club had some outstanding results achieved by both our senior and junior squads at separate days of the Eastern Suburbs Swimming Association District meet over the last 3 weeks - full results in the next newsletter. |
Swimmer of the Month - July The July Championship was a high quality affair, with 16 PB's set and an extraordinary total of 12 new Club records set - this is the highest number of records ever set at one of our meets - well done all swimmers ! Records and PB's were set by the following : Kelsey Gerbec (1 PB and 1 Record) ; James Vineberg (1 PB and 1 Record) ; Lucy Vineberg (1 PB) ; Tui Ryder-Nuku (4PB's and 1 Record) ; Tyge Berger-Cockings (4 PB's and 1 Record) ; Samantha Marshall (2 PB's and 2 Records) ; Phoebe Davies (2 PB's ) ; Daniel Leech (2 Records) ; Aiden Brown (1 PB); Mikayla Gerbec (2 PB's and 2 Records ) ; Morena Hosie (1 PB) ; Sammy Annear ( 1 PB ) ; Marco Vukojevic (1 record and 1 PB) ; Beatrice Hosie (1 PB and 1 Record) and Tom Mahony (1 Record) With all these PB's and records being broken, winning the club's "Swimmer of the Month" was going to a huge achievement. Phoebe Davies and Mikayla Gerbec came close with 11 points each. However they were just shaded by two boys, Tyge Berger-Cockings and Tui Ryder-Nuku who both scored 12 points. We thus had to do a count back and the winner by the narrowest possible margin is Tyge. Well done Tyge Berger-Cockings our Swimmer of the Month for July ! Swimmer of the Year The competition for Swimmer of the Year is based on each swimmers performances throughout the year at club race nights, with a PB counting for 4 points, a near PB for 3, being within 1 second is worth 2 points and for each race entered 1 point is earned. Well done to all the swimmers last week - there were some terrific performances and it is getting very crowded at the top of the table ! Following the July monthly championship, the current "Top 10" standings are as follows: BOYS: Tom Mahony 152; Aidan Brown 150; Sammy Annear 142; Jack Gerbec 101; James Ekins 80; Robert Murphy 74; James Vineburg 72. results Club BBQ The barbeque will again be operating on Friday nights from 6.45pm, with the complimentary champagne, beer and wine again available to all parents and support crew. Remember that brothers and sisters of the swimmers have free entry so they can enjoy all the facilities of the centre, and have a delicious dinner, while the Race Squad battle out the point score placings! Gym Membership Membership fees for 2005/06 are now overdue and swimmers need to join or renew to swim at the next meet . There are very serious insurance issues if a swimmer races in our club without being financial. Accordingly we have to insist that each swimmer is paid up before being allowed to compete. Go to the website at www.cpswimclub.info to download the application form from the fees page. Failing that see Nish - the man behind the desk at race nights. |
