UPDATE |
| Well done Morena Hosie, Swimmer of the Month for June ! With 3 Personal Bests at last weeks June Monthly Championship, (one by over 8 seconds !) Morena starred at the meet and despite some tough competition, won the big award. Terrific effort Morena ! Our next club race night, and the second of our Monthly Championships in the winter series, is on next month on July 21st, with further championships on August 18th and September 22nd. Put all these in the diary, as there are only these three race meets available to establish who the "Swimmer of the Year" will be. As advised in the last newsletter, we have been invited
by the Eastern Suburbs Swimming Association to participate in their
development squad being held in the second week of the July school holidays
from 10 July to 13 July (Monday to Thursday) at Cranbrook School starting
at 8am through to 10am. We have a squad now ready and raring to go -
congratulations to Aidan Brown, Sammy Annear, Tom Mahony, Daniel Leach,
Mia Portelli and Beatrice Hosie. Coaches Steve and Martin will shortly
be finalising the entries for these squad members who will be competing
at the mandatory SLC Aquadot Carnival on Saturday the 15th July at the
Olympic Aquatic Centre at Homebush. |
Club BBQ The barbeque will again be operating on Friday nights from 6.45pm, with the complimentary champagne, beer and wine again available to all parents and support crew. Remember that brothers and sisters of the swimmers have free entry so they can enjoy all the facilities of the centre, and have a delicious dinner, while the Race Squad battle out the point score placings! Swimmer of the Year The competition for Swimmer of the Year is based on each swimmers performances throughout the year at club race nights, with a PB counting for 4 points, a near PB for 3, being within 1 second is worth 2 points and for each race entered 1 point is earned. Well done to all the swimmers last week - there were some terrific performances and it is getting very crowded at the top of the table ! Following the June 16 meet, the current "Top 10" standings are as follows (noting that the complete list is on our web site) : BOYS: Tom Mahony 145; Aidan Brown 143; Sammy Annear 136; Jack Gerbec 98; Oliver Schaffer 88; James Ekins 80; Robert Murphy 74; James Vineburg 68. She has been training hard under head coach Steve Garner, and despite battling a bad dose of flue earlier in the month, is looking good to do well, particularly in the breastroke. Good luck and good racing Sam from all at the club ! |
Swimmer of the Month for June, 2006 The club ran a very successful Monthly Championship last Friday, with 16 PB's set and a number of new faces which was terrific. Winter holiday camps Please support our friends at Cool Camps for Kids. They are conducting two ball sports camps during the June/July holidays and more details can be found at www.coolcamps.com.au Gym Membership Computerised
results Membership fees for 2005/06 are now overdue and swimmers need to join or renew to swim at the next meet . There are very serious insurance issues if a swimmer races in our club without being financial. Accordingly we have to insist that each swimmer is paid up before being allowed to compete. Go to the website at www.cpswimclub.info to download the application form from the fees page. Failing that see Nish - the man behind the desk at race nights. |
