COOK +PHILLIP SWIM CLUB

The next race night is on Friday 2nd May

We are holding the clubs next monthly race night at the start of 2nd term on Friday May the 2nd  commencing at 6.30pm.  A number of the club’s senior swimmers will be there, and the race program will start off with a mixed age relay so it should be an exciting night !  There will be a barbeque operating. Please try and be there shortly after 6.00pm so as to facilitate registration and to give some time for the warm up.

SHORT COURSE RACING SEASON

The Short Course racing season starts in earnest next month and following the successful results at the recent SwimWest carnival head coach Steve Garner is organising squads to go to three carnivals over the next 6 weeks. Note that :

  • Coach Vlad will be in attendance for the first 4 hours or so – it is recommended that in most cases swimmers only swim in the first half of the program as it is otherwise a very long day. However if required to stay longer (to try and set a particular qualifying time, for example) then by all means stay longer
  • To try and reduce the workload on the  (volunteer) committee the entry process has been changed - parents of swimmers will now need to fill in the multi-entry card themselves (available from Steve, Vlad, David Marshall, Glenn Annear, Ewen McDonald and Tim Mahony) using the carnival details (already sent to everyone by email and on the notice board at the foot of the stairs) and then give the completed card plus the entry fees to one of the above.
  • There will continue to be a $10 club entry fee per family on top of the entry fee paid to the external carnival organisers

The short course season culminates in the Metropolitan Championships starting on 28th June and the State Age Championships starting on August 8th . Qualifying times for these major meets are now also on the notice board at the foot of the stairs. The carnivals in May and early June will also be excellent practice for the Tasmanian State Age Championships in early September which we will be attending.

The three carnivals are as follows :

    1. Castle Hill Dolphins meet at SOPAC on Sunday May 18 from 9.00am  – entries to us by Wed April 30. It is suggested that you only enter up to event 42 unless you need to race in a later event.
    2. Maroubra Development Meet at Des Renford Centre, Maroubra, on Sunday May 25 from 12.00pm  – entries to us by Friday May 9. It is suggested that you only enter up to event 58 unless you need to race in a later event.
    3. Bayside 12 Years & Under  Meet at Des Renford Centre, Maroubra, on Monday June 9 from 9.00 am  – entries to us by Friday May 15. It is suggested that you only enter up to event 42 unless you need to race in a later event. Note this is the long weekend.
