+PHILLIP SWIM CLUB |
| The next race night is on Friday 4th April We are holding the clubs next monthly race night in early April, on Friday the 4th commencing at 6.30pm. As always there will be a barbeque operating. Please try and be there shortly after 6.00pm so as to facilitate registration and to give some time for the warm up. Speedo Sprint Series The club sent its biggest ever squad to the Speedo Heats in February and a record 9 of our swimmers made it through to the finals that were held on March 9th. Having 9 finalists was a fantastic result. A number of excellent PB’s were achieved – full results will shortly be on our website and will also be published in the next newsletter. Next External Race Meet We will be sending a squad to the SwimWest short course qualifying meet to be held at SOPAC on Sunday, April 20. This carnival is designed to enable swimmers to try and establish qualifying times for the major meets coming up in the middle of the year. It is also excellent racing practice for those swimmers that want to keep improving through the year. Please let Steve Garner (poolside) or David Marshall (davidm869@gmail.com) know if you would like to participate – entries need to be into the club by Tuesday April 1st. The race details are on the Swimming NSW website (go to “calendar” ) and are also on the club notice board at the foot of the stairs at the C&P centre. Note that these major meets are the Metropolitan Championships starting on 28th June and the State Age Championships starting on August 8th . This SwimWest meet will also be excellent practice for the Tasmanian State Age Championships which we will be attending – see below. Results for Club race Night on March 7 Our swimmers had another excellent night of racing earlier this month at the most recent club race night. A total of 23 PB’s were set which was under the previous month (where a record 37 PB’s were set) but was still a great effort. Congratulations to Francis Badger (3), Henry Palmerlee (2), Jade Jowett-Crociani, Tom Mahony (2), Mia Mahony, Sammy Annear (3), Aiden Brown (2), Tom Badger (3), Billy McGuirk, Emily Kass, Doris Kong (2), Scarlet Clark and Tui Ryder-Nuku. Tom Badger topped the points with a total of 15 so special congratulations to him ! Trip to Tasmania We had an extremely successful trip to the Tasmanian Short Course State Championships last year and will be doing it again this year. They will be held from Saturday September 6th to Monday the 8th inclusive and you will need to fly into Hobart on the previous Friday. As with last year you will need to make your own travel arrangements (fly in Friday the 5th and fly out in the afternoon of the 8th ). We will try and arrange an attractive accommodation package for all attendees. The great thing about this meet (apart from the fun and competition) is that Swimming Tasmania have waived any entry times for our squad. Once again we will be organising all the club gear for the swimmers and their supporters. It is enormous fun for the whole family so put it in the diary ! More details shortly. |
