REMEMBER TO REGISTER EARLY ON CLUB NIGHT:  WARM –UP at 5.30 pm; MARSHALLING at 6.15 pm; RACING at 6.30 pm

And for the calendar: club race nights for the first half of the year are…6 March / 3 April / 1 May / 5 June & 26 June 2009.

The year has already started with great successes for CKPP swimmers: Congratulations to our Junior State swimmers who performed extremely well even though it was officially “holiday time”. In the State Age 50m freestyle Daniel Leech went close to a PB 30.33; Tom Mahony swam a good PB 31.37; Jasper Goodall came 10th in a field of 100 swimmers in a PB 32.36. Jasper also competed in the 100m in a time of 1.15.28. These young guys have gotten the club off to a top start to the season so let’s keep going!!

AND ON THE WORLD STAGE…Samantha Marshall and head coach Steve Garner have just returned from the Junior Pan Pac Competition in Guam where Samantha won IN RECORD TIME the 100m breaststroke 1.09.08, and placed 3rd in the 200m breaststroke in 2.27.99 (PB), which moved her into 9th fastest all time in Australia. She also won a bronze medal as a member of the 4 x 100m Medley Relay Team. Sam also won the Open 100m breastroke in the Queensland State Titles in December, breaking the NSW 16 years record in the process.

Congratulations to all these swimmers and to Steve, and particularly to coach Vlad Mravec who has contributed greatly to the junior's development and success.

SWIM CARNIVALS COMING UP SOON

CARRINGTON INDOOR AQUATIC/ HILLS SWIMMING CLUB LONG COURSE MEET: Saturday 31st JANUARY 2009  (SOPAC/HOMEBUSH). Warm up starts at 8.00 am.

THE SPEEDO SPRINT SERIES/ METROSOUTH EAST REGIONAL HEATS: Saturday 7th FEBRUARY 2009 BEXLEY SWIMMING CENTRE, PREDDY’S ROAD, BEXLEY. Session 1 (8-10 yrs) starts 12 noon; Session 2 (11-13 yrs) starts approx. 4 pm

See you at the first club night and BBQ on 6th February 2009 where the culinary and organisational skills of Laurie McGuirk and his team of parents and swimmers will be on show. The CKPP all day BBQ fundraiser at Bunnings/Alexandria was a great success thanks to the effort of this dedicated group
